Michigan Vegan Food Guide

Hi everyone! If you’re taking a trip to Michigan, then this guide is for you! I visited my cousin who lives in the suburbs outside Detroit, so a lot of these spots are in cute areas like Ferndale and Royal Oak! But no matter where I am, I manage to find some awesome vegan food that is always beyond satisfying. Here are my honest reviews below! None of the places below are 100% vegan, but all have plenty of options!

Imperial

This was my favorite spot while in Michigan! Awesome vibes inside and they have a really cute outdoor seating area in the back. Tacos are under $3 each which is extremely reasonable, and the guac is fresh and homemade! The perfect spot for a sunny weekend day for a fruity drink and awesome vegan options.

I went with the vegan chorizo taco and the seitan taco. Both were great, but the seitan one was my favorite, as the vegan lime sauce added such a unique flavor.

Bobcat Bonnie’s

This was a cute place with both a huge drink and food menu! There were a handful of vegan options to choose from, and I decided to go with the Beyond Sausage vegan chili dog, because I was starving and couldn’t wait to get my hands on something packed with protein!

The service was a bit slow, which was odd for a late lunch on a week day, and I really wished the sausage was crispier! It was definitely more on the under-cooked side, but perhaps a well-done vegan sausage just a personal preference of mine. Despite that, the meal was still tasty and the vegan cheese on top was a nice touch! I’d recommend this meal, but recommend specifying how you like your vegan sausages cooked!

Donut Bar & Coffee

Is there anything better than fluffy vegan donuts? I think not! I didn’t get the chance to go to Donut Bar & Coffee because at the time, me and my cousin didn’t have access to a car. But thanks to Uber Eats, we got donuts delivered! (Yes, that’s a thing! No regrets)

I got their Strawberry Soiree and it was delicious! What’s more fun than eating a donut?

Michigo Pizza

I love a good deep dish pizza and it’s definitely a special treat because finding one in Boston is not easy! In fact, I haven’t heard of any vegan deep dish in Boston, so it was great to get one in Michigan! Michigo Pizza is a casual pizza place that has great vegan options, whether you want deep dish, New York style, or pizza grinders. I wouldn’t say this was my favorite pizza ever, but they did a good job and the vegan cheese was really melty!

Ale Mary’s Beer Hall

This was a great spot with a full vegan menu and great service! There’s nothing better than being able to choose from so many options at a non-vegan restaurant. I got their McMary Impossible Burger, which is their vegan take on a Big Mac, buffalo cauliflower, and onion rings!

The burgers don’t come with fries (you have to order them separately) which is always interesting to me, but that’s okay! Everything was so tasty and very filling. The cauliflower had a great kick to it, but it wasn’t too spicy. I was also impressed with their vegan ranch for dipping!
